Rocket Spanish is an excellent program for learning the Spanish language and culture quickly and easily (like a rocket!) and getting a good foundation in grammar and vocabulary.  It features both audio and written instruction, with lots of very cool software games to practice what you have learned.

There is also a forum where you can go to get help or just practice your Spanish.  One of the best things about Rocket Spanish, though is that they have a free six-day course that allows you to get a feel for what the program’s lessons are like.  They also have a money back guarantee in the event that for any reason you don’t like the program after you have purchased it.

The audio portion of Rocket Spanish would be enough to call an entire course in itself.  It contains over 14 hours of audio that allows you to learn in a natural way, by listening to spoken Spanish and then repeating what you’ve heard.  There are 31 lessons, and each one covers a different aspect of everyday life, from greetings and emotions to weekend plans and conversations about finding a job.  This is the next best thing to actually being in the room with people as they carry on a conversation in Spanish.

Rocket Spanish also comes with a 550 page guidebook, which is a comprehensive manual for learning the Spanish language.  It includes two sections on grammar so that you can learn the structure of the language as you’re going through the audio lessons.  The grammar is split up into a beginners grammar portion and an advanced grammar portion, which allows you to learn in an organized way.

Also included in the manual is a conversation course book which gives you more practice with actual Spanish situations.  The final piece of the manual is a vocabulary supplement which comes complete with exercises so that you can expand your knowledge.  This vocabulary is grouped into various sections, such as descriptions, directions and classroom vocabulary.

The part of the package that I like the most is the selection of interactive games that reinforce what you are learning in the audio and written components.  There is a vocabulary recall game that allows you to learn by recognizing and identifying over 1,000 Spanish words as they are associated with pictures on your computer screen.  Then there is an audio game that increases your ability to recognize spoken words in Spanish to increase your audio comprehension.  This is the most important part of learning a language, because you will not be able to communicate with people if you cannot understand what they are saying.

One of the most difficult parts of learning Spanish is learning all of the verb tenses and becoming familiar with their conjugations.  Rocket Spanish comes with a software called MegaVerbs, which lets you practice verb tenses and conjugations to learn them correctly.  The program also comes with flash cards that you can print from a PDF document.  You can use these by yourself or use them to play a game that makes learning vocabulary more fun and entertaining.

Where Rocket Spanish separates itself from some of the other Spanish learning programs out there is in the amount of support that they provide students.  There is a forum where you can go to practice your Spanish 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  You can find help with areas of the Spanish language that you don’t understand and you can hold conversations in Spanish with other members of the forum.  This is a great opportunity to practice what you are learning with the Rocket Spanish program and make new friends in the process.
